The Test of Faith
For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver. You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs. You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance. – Psalm 66:10-12
When you choose to trust in God and live by faith you have to be prepared for the test that awaits you. Just like anything else in life you have to be tested in order to prove that you are capable of handling any set assignment. Tests are simply tools that are used to prove that you are capable and confident enough to handle the next level. Regardless if you are in school or at work you will face many tests to prove your capabilities are at the level necessary for you not to fail.
Walking with God is no different. You will be tested. It’s not because God doesn’t love you or He doesn’t care. It just means He is preparing you for His promise. God wants to bring you into a place of abundance but before He does that He needs to make sure you are able to properly steward the place in which He sends you. He does that by testing you to make sure your character is capable of handling His promise.
Don’t run away from the test. Allow God to refine you. Don’t let your pride stop you from passing your prison test. It is there that God will preserve your life and keep your feet from slipping!
