Naked For 3 Years
Isaiah 20:2 (NIV)
“At that time the LORD spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz. He said to him, “Take off the sackcloth from your body and the sandals from your feet.” And he did so, going around stripped and barefoot.”
When you are a true servant of God, it requires you to do things that are not “normal.”
God called Isaiah to give a real-life demonstration to communicate what was going to happen to the Egyptians and Assyrians. Verse 3 says, “Then the LORD said, ‘Just as my servant Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years, as a sign against Egypt and Cush, so the king of Assyria will lead away stripped and barefoot the Egyptian captives and Cushite exiles, young and old, with buttocks bared, to Egypt’s shame” (NIV).
We are convinced American Christians serve the God of their comfort zone. We only go to churches that makes us comfortable. We pray the way we feel comfortable. We worship inside of our comfort zone. Show us one example in the Bible of someone who followed God, or was a prophet, that God didn’t request to do something completely outside of their comfort zone.
We are not saying God will call you to physically walk around naked for three years, but we promise you what He calls you to do will make you feel naked and exposed in front of everyone you know!
God isn’t concerned about your comfort. He has no concept for comfort. Think about the visions of heaven recorded in Revelation. Six-winged creatures. Eyeballs all over birds. Creatures with multiple heads. Smoke, fire, and flames. Like, let’s be real. If that was in our world, it would make us real uncomfortable.
They also worship 24/7 in heaven! We can barely worship one day a week for a couple hours. How they worship in heaven will make ninety-nine percent of Christians uncomfortable!
God prepares you for His Kingdom by making you uncomfortable in your world!
