Who Do You Serve?
Galatians 1:10
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
You can serve men or The Messiah but you can’t serve both. It’s embedded deep within human DNA to want to please people. God created us with a deep desire to serve and please. It’s at the core of our DNA!
What we fail to realize is we were created to please God! We were created to serve God! The enemy has lured us into this trap that has us convinced that the purpose of our pleasing servant heart was for human beings. The reality is we were created to serve and please God not people. The Bible says you can’t serve two masters for you will either love one and hate the other or hate one and love the other.
Paul said it plainly that if I were trying to please people I would not be a servant of Christ. What a powerful statement. The Bible calls us to love our neighbors. It even calls us to love our enemies. What a tension to live within. Only the Spirit of God byway of grace can allow you to live within this tension of loving but not pleasing people.
If we fall into the trap of pleasing people we will 100% forfeit the ability to serve and please God. If you want to be a servant of Christ your chief obsession should be desiring to please and serve God only.
