What is God Saying – TODAY?!
The field commander said to them, “Tell Hezekiah: “‘This is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: On what are you basing this confidence of yours? You say you have the counsel and the might for war—but you speak only empty words. On whom are you depending, that you rebel against me? Look, I know you are depending on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff, which pierces the hand of anyone who leans on it! Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who depend on him. But if you say to me, “We are depending on the Lord our God”—isn’t He the one whose high places and altars Hezekiah removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, “You must worship before this altar in Jerusalem?” “ ‘Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses—if you can put riders on them! How can you repulse one officer of the least of my master’s officials, even though you are depending on Egypt for chariots and horsemen? Furthermore, have I come to attack and destroy this place without word from the Lord? The Lord Himself told me to march against this country and destroy it.’” – 2 Kings 18:19-25
It is critical that you know the Word of God for yourself. When you read the word of God on a daily basis and trust in God’s prophesies that will grant you access to what God is saying today. The person that searches and trusts what God shows them is the one that will not only understand what God is saying today but will also trust in what God is saying today over the lies of the enemy.
The field commander said to tell Hezekiah do you think I came here to attack you without authorization from your God? Then he said the Lord Himself told me to march against this country and destroy it. Isaiah prophesied that God would raise up Assyria to take down the nations in which His people lived because they had become a godless nation. So, the reality is the field commander was actually somewhat correct. This is how the devil presents the Bible to most Christians. He presents it in a way that is somewhat true and if you aren’t familiar enough with the Word you will fall for it every single time. This is what Isaiah prophesied –
Isaiah 10:5-11
Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of my anger, in whose hand is the club of my wrath! I send him against a godless nation, I dispatch him against a people who anger me, to seize loot and snatch plunder, and to trample them down like mud in the streets. But this is not what he intends, this is not what he has in mind; his purpose is to destroy, to put an end to many nations. ‘Are not my commanders all kings?’ He says. We destroyed Kalno just as we did Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad, and Samaria like Damascus? As my hand seized the kingdoms of the idols, kingdoms whose images excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria— shall I not deal with Jerusalem and her images as I dealt with Samaria and her idols?
If you took all of that into consideration you would think King Hezekiah was on the verge of being taken out. Assyria had already destroyed many nations just like God told Isaiah it would happen. This is where it becomes important to know what God is saying TODAY!
When King Hezekiah heard about the speech that was given by the field commander he went straight to the temple in order that he might plead and pray before God. He sent messengers to Isaiah. He had his messengers ask Isaiah is this going to be the end of us or will God have mercy on the remnant of Jerusalem? King Hezekiah wanted to know what God was saying today.
Isaiah sent back word to King Hezekiah. He said to tell the king, this is what the Lord says, do not be afraid of what you have heard – those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
What a relief! What Isaiah prophesied concerning what Assyria would do did not apply to King Hezekiah’s nation. What if Hezekiah didn’t search for what God was saying concerning his nation today? He very well could have surrendered into the Assyrian’s hands. Made treaties with other nations in order for his nation not to be taken out by the Assyrians. There are multiple things Hezekiah could have done if he believed the Assyrians were coming to destroy them. All of those things would have been outside of God’s will.
The only thing Hezekiah did was go to the temple. Go before the presence of God. His only strategy was prayer and worship. The enemy’s number one plan is to get people wrapped up in human strategies. This tactic is wildly successful because of two reasons –
- Christians aren’t searching the Word for themselves on a daily basis.
- What they do know about the Word they don’t fully trust.
You may have recently received a bad report. Someone may have even told you this is God’s will. You may have believed them for whatever reason. I am here to tell you search God’s Word for yourself and He will show you what His will is concerning your life TODAY.
Don’t believe what you hear.
Believe what God IS SAYING – TODAY.
