Wait

Psalm 27:14

“Wait for the Lord: be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

I typed the word “Wait” in google and it returned 1,520,000,000 results in 0.46 seconds. In a world where waiting is practically extinct how would we have the patience to “Wait on the Lord?”

I just received 1,520,000,000 answers in less than a half of a second from Google. Why wouldn’t God be able to answer my request faster than that?!

David discovered something about waiting for the Lord. This isn’t some cute Christian phrase that David had hanging up in his palace. This was something David had to personally live out in a big way!

David was a little shepherd boy when he was anointed to be King. David didn’t walk right into the palace and sit on the throne after he was anointed. He had to wait somewhere between 15-20 years before he was King of Judah and then another seven years before he was King of Israel.

What you do between the time you are anointed and the time you are announced will determine the type of kingdom you establish. Most people would have given up on their calling/dream of becoming a King. People today would have told David, move on kid. If it hasn’t happened by now it’s probably not going to happen. Most people view waiting as a period of broken promises. I don’t agree with that!

When you are living the life God has anointed you to live the waiting period becomes a period of preparation instead a period of broken promises.

We need to view waiting as God’s favor. The waiting period for David allowed God to prepare him for the throne. Once God placed David in the highest seat of honor He knew it would expose who David really was. Our nation has it backwards. Men and Women chase positions and platforms because they believe that is what will make them. God works differently. He understands platforms can’t make you they can only expose you!

God knew the throne was going to expose David’s true heart. He needed decades with David in order for the throne to be a blessing not a curse. So, when David is saying, “Wait on the Lord” this is coming from a man that had to wait two decades to enter into his calling/career.

It’s not easy to wait. That is why he says be strong and take heart but still WAIT! Don’t get distracted by everyone else’s google result lives! Yes 99% of people around you aren’t waiting for anything. They want it now and they get it now! But just like google. After you get past the second or third page of your search the content becomes more and more useless. Once you start to dig deep into people’s lives you begin to see the results of microwave decisions. You will discover what lives look like that don’t wait on the Lord.

Wait on the Lord for your marriage, wait on the Lord for you healing, wait on the Lord for better circumstances within your job, wait on the Lord.

Insert “Wait on the Lord” to your circumstances. BE STRONG AND TAKE HEART and WAIT ON THE LORD!
