The Beauty of Being Known By God
Galatians 4:8
“Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. But now that you know God – or rather are known by God – how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces.”
Once you get to the part in your journey that you finally come face to face with your Father in Heaven it is such a beautiful and enlightening moment. It’s the most incredible moment you will ever experience. The moment when you realize that you never knew God and didn’t really have a personal relationship with Him becomes a moment where you become filled by His grace and goodness. Your walk with God has now become a relationship versus a religion. It becomes rooted in faith instead of fear.
That journey will then begin to take you from glory to glory and you will start to comprehend that the true grace of God is not that I finally found Him it’s that He actually knows me! When you have the perspective that you are known by God versus merely knowing God it will change your life! It will develop a deep level of reverence and a healthy fear of the Lord. It becomes more about God and less about you! We must decrease so He can increase! Decreasing is a process that is rooted in a mindset that says – I am known by the creator of Heaven and Earth! The One who was and is and is to come knows the number of hairs on my head! The King of kings and Lord of lords knows my name!
When we have the perspective that we are getting to know God. It becomes about us. How much we read, how much we pray, how much time we devote to devotions. It becomes about the sacrifices we make to make room for God in our lives. When you have the perspective that we are known by God then you will begin to realize none of that stuff matters. There is nothing you can do to get God to know you. He knew you before you were born so it literally has nothing to do with your devotional pursuit.
Let me say it like this. Your devotional pursuit changes how much you love God and desire His presence but it doesn’t change how much God loves you and desire your presence. This is where the radical grace of God and His love for His children is important for us to understand! This grace and love, this concept of being known by God before you were born and could “do anything for Him” births a freedom within humanity that God intended us to live with! Paul closed it the best way. Don’t allow yourself to turn to weak and miserable principles. Live within the freedom of faith and grace!
God shift our perspective and help us to have the mindset that we are known by you! It’s not about us, it’s all about you!
