I Exalt Thee
Psalm 97:4-9
“His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness, and all peoples see His glory. All who worship images are put to shame, those who boast in idols – worship Him, all you gods! Zion hears and rejoices and the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments, Lord. For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.”
I went back to read this chapter in Psalms when I woke up this morning. I glanced over the verses that talked about His lightning lighting the world up and the mountains melting. Immediately my soul was wakened at the thought of how big my Heavenly Father truly is! Then when I arrived at verse 9 the song I Exalt Thee jumped into my soul! I felt this peace pass through the room and I knew God wanted me to revisit this chapter for that reason.
It’s so important to not just breeze through the Bible as if it’s a Christian assignment to read through the whole Bible. These aren’t just words. They are
life, just like Moses said! It’s not an assignment it’s an honor.
Read a chapter as many times as you need to until it comes alive for you. Until it feeds your soul. Until you feel the presence of God fill the room.
Monica said something the other day that I had never really considered on the level that she said it. She said, think about it, the creator of everything, the God who has been in existence forever – His words are recorded in a book for us to read! Let that sink in. I don’t care who you are but that is not normal! The audible words of Almighty Yahweh are written down for us humans! These are not just idle words for you – they are your life. Deuteronomy 32:47
I proceeded to research the background and lyrics to the song I Exalt Thee. When I found out who originally wrote the song the site provided some history of the song. The song was birthed out of this exact verse! How crazy is that!
Let this song minister to your soul this morning. May God’s peace that passes all understanding fill your room, your home and your heart today! In Jesus Name. Amen!
