Don’t Get It Twisted

Psalm 94:9-11

“Does He who fashioned the ear not hear? Does He who formed the eye not see? Does He who disciplines nations not punish? Does He who teaches mankind lack knowledge? The Lord knows all human plans; He knows that they are futile.”

Earlier in this chapter the writer is complaining to God about the wicked. Explaining how proud, arrogant and boastful the wicked are. The writer is asking how long are you going to sit back and let this go on? It seems as though the wicked are trampling all over us. How long will you allow this to happen? Then the transition happens.

When you think God isn’t listening, watching and correcting the actions of the wicked you need to reevaluate your assessment of who you believe God to be. God created the ear so that means He hears everything! God formed the eye, so He sees everything! God punishes nations so best believe He will punish individual people for their actions. God teaches mankind, so He is very much aware of what is going on. Whatever good or bad plans us humans have will always pale in comparison to the One who created everything.

Example – we have a modern day “California Gold Rush” of people investing in Bitcoin or other forms of blockchain technology currency thinking if they can just get enough money invested at just the right time they can sail off into the sunset and retire. God looks at us and says, “I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in fire so that you can become rich” Revelation 3:18.

Our plans to acquire wealth look silly to God. They always have, and they always will. What we should be rushing to acquire is wisdom, knowledge and understanding of God’s Word and His character. That is the only wealth that will be worth something one thousand years from now.

Do your kids a favor and stop trying to divide your monetary assets up properly to appease everyone in the family and start teaching them about the only thing that will transcend generations. Too many kids are left with a portfolio and no presence. A portfolio without the presence of God advising you on how to steward those possessions properly is more of a curse than a blessing.

Build up your portfolio to where the majority of your investments are located in the Kingdom of Heaven. When all hell breaks loose and someone in your family needs a miracle that check book won’t save them. If the portfolio you left your kids are filled with the promises of God that gives them the ability to cash in on God’s character in times of crisis!

Teach your kids how to host the presence of God instead of how to strategically position their stocks, bonds and various investments. When you host God’s presence properly He will teach you what you need to know about His money!
