A New Thing

Jeremiah 23:7-8
“So then, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when people will no longer say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’ but they will say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the descendants of Israel up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where He had banished them.’ Then they will live in their own land.”

After the story of the Exodus took place in the Bible whenever anyone wanted to make a point that God is capable of delivering you from any situation they would start their phrase off with saying – the God of Israel, the God who rescued you from Egypt. They wanted to remind people if He did it before, He can do it again.

Testimonies of those who have gone before us is what fuels our faith. Leaning on the ancient Biblical stories has provided the most fuel for my faith. With that said, I believe that God wants and invites us to create fresh fuel for those who will come after you. 

In these verses, Jeremiah said, the Lord said a day is coming where people will no longer refer to me as the Lord who brought the Israelites out of Egypt. They will now say, I am the Lord who has brought the descendants of Israel up out of the land in which they were banished, back to their own land. They will no longer be foreigners in the land in which they were exiled to, they will once again possess their own land.

I believe this verse invites all generations to allow God to do a new thing. In return that will allow generations after you to use your testimony in order that they may fuel their faith. We want God to lead a miraculous movement through our life in such a way that generations will talk about it the way they talk about the Exodus from Egypt.

God do a new thing on this earth. Let us once again see You outstretch Your hand. Let us see Your mighty hand of deliverance! Let us use the ancient Biblical stories as permission to create our own stories that generations down from us can use to fuel their faith. Do a new thing, God! Do a new thing!

Let us cling to this promise.

Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
